David Ross:
Public Safety

Steve Cooley, Former District Attorney, Los Angeles County (2000-2012)

Doug Haubert, City Prosecutor, Long Beach

Bill Lockyer, California Attorney General (1999-2007)

David Ross has spent more than three decades in the courtroom as a public defender, standing up for the Constitution and ensuring that every person who enters our justice system is treated fairly. That makes the support he has earned from members of the law enforcement community especially meaningful. Prosecutors, defense attorneys, and law enforcement officers serve different roles, but they share a responsibility to the integrity of our justice system and to the safety of the communities they serve.
David’s law enforcement endorsements reflect the respect he has earned across the courtroom. Throughout his career, he has worked with police officers, prosecutors, judges, victims, and defendants while remaining firmly committed to his responsibility as a defense attorney. Those who have encountered him professionally know that he can advocate vigorously for his clients while respecting the difficult work performed by everyone in the justice system.
As a judge, David will bring that same approach to the bench: respect for the Constitution, respect for law enforcement, fairness to every person who enters his courtroom, and a commitment to public safety. A judge should not approach a case with a predetermined agenda. David believes each case should be decided on its facts and the law, with independence, fairness, and respect for everyone involved.
